«Усталость от сострадания», временная потеря интереса к страданиям других как реакция на чрезмерное количество благотворительных акций. Это выражение впервые вошло в обиход в США в 1980-х гг. в связи с постоянными сборами пожертвований для беженцев. В Великобритании имеются в виду частые показы телевизионных фильмов о массовом голоде и ужасных условиях жизни в некоторых районах Африки. Тот же самый эффект, когда речь идёт о правительстве, называется aid fatigue («усталость от помощи»).Bob Geldorf wanted to organise his charity rock concert quickly, before compassion fatigue set in. — Боб Гелдорф хотел организовать свой благотворительный рок-концерт побыстрей, до того как наступит «усталость от сострадания».
